Club Activities
November - Purchased 2 new eyeglasses and collected 102 for recycling. Held a pancake breakfast and conducted a KidSight Vision Screening in Clinton County. Monticello Lions are helping the Salvation Army with bell ringing during the Holiday Season. Ten club members attended Zone meeting in Albany, one member attended KLEF meeting in Louisville and two members attended Governor's Cabinet meeting. December - Purchased 2 new eyeglasses and collected 12 used eyeglasses for recycling. Donated $1,000 to the Lake Cumberland Children's Advocacy Center. Donated $135 to the Salvation Army and helped them ring the bell during the Holidays. Inducted new member Tyler Huff. January - Purchased 2 eyeglasses and collected 54 used eyeglasses. Renewed membership in Monticello Chamber of Commerce. Two members attended Governor's Cabinet meeting. Mint sales and work on the 16 February "Magic Show" continue. February - PDG Phillip Catron and Lion J.D. Rogers visited the Russell Springs Lions Club. Purchased 4 new eyeglasses and collected 25 used eyeglasses. Sponsored Magic Show. Donated $100.00 to KET, $75.00 to Junior Miss Program and $100.00 to CSFII. The club also delivered 558 used eyeglasses to Lens Crafters for recycling. March - Seven Members attended District 43 C Convention at Cumberland Falls and nine members attended Zone Meeting at Shearer's Buffet. Three Monticello Lions conducted a KidSight vision screening in McCreary County. Purchased 9 new eyeglasses and collected 28 for recycling. Bill and Jan Conn became Lions during March. Welcome!! April - Purchased 6 pairs of new eyeglasses and collected 48 pairs for recycling. Club held 21st annual Lions Auction on 19 April. Conducted a vision screening at a child care center in Clinton County and helped Russell County Lions with a screening in Russell Springs. Lion Martha Blevins attended a KidSight screening class and she is now a member of the club's camera vision screening team. Made the following donations - Project Graduation - $100.00, Candy Days - $200.00, Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation - $200.00, Trooper Island - $200.00. |

| "White Cane Days" will be held at Wal-Mart from 10:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Friday and Saturday, 23 and 24 May. Lions are needed to work two hour shifts...please call Lion Ralph Martin and volunteer your help. |
Campaign Sight First II
![]() Since 1990 Lions Campaign Sight First has funded more than 7,000,000 cataract surgeries, restored sight to 27,000,000 and improved the eye care for 100,000,000 people. Lions have also built or expanded 207 eye hospitals, and 314 eye centers have received equipment upgrades. Each year, Lions also collect approximately 7,000,000 pairs of used eyeglasses for recycling, provide 600,000 free glaucoma screenings and make 20,000 corneal transplants possible. |
